Parking Regulations

Safety and Security

First-year resident students are not permitted to have vehicles, motor scooters or other motor-driven cycles on campus or within the city of Newport, except for electric motorized bicycles that may be propelled by human power or electric motor power, 或两个. Violations will result in ticketing and 拖ing. Students must complete two semesters at any institution of higher education before a vehicle is authorized.

First-Year Resident Student Violations

One Car/One Space Policy

All resident students must register their vehicles and are assigned parking on campus. Vehicles may not be used for on-campus transportation from 7 a.m. 到5点.m. Monday through Friday. This includes all campus parking lots (other than the one assigned) and city streets adjacent to the University.

Only the Office of Safety and Security may authorize an exception to this policy. If an exception is granted, the student is responsible to get the name and badge number of the officer granting permission.

Restricted Parking

The city of Newport restricts parking on the following streets between the hours of midnight and 6 a.m.:

  • Lawrence Avenue (between Webster and Leroy)
  • Narragansett Avenue
  • 维多利亚大道
  • 沃德大街
  • 韦伯斯特街
  • 惠特玛大道

Students parked at these locations are subject to violations issued by 亚洲博彩平台排名 security in addition to parking tickets issued by the Newport police.

While the Office of Safety and Security strives to fairly and consistently enforce parking regulations, tickets are occasionally issued in error. When this happens, the following process offers an opportunity to appeal the violation.

上诉 must be filed online within seven days of the violation by completing the parking violation appeal form, which must be signed and submitted with a hearing date request. The hearing date will be confirmed via email from the Office of Safety and Security. Before completing the 上诉的形式, please read the "无效的请求" section below.

Failure to appear for a scheduled hearing will result in the violation being upheld. You may cancel or reschedule a hearing until 3:30 p.m. of the hearing date via email to 马修Corcelli. You will be notified of the results via email 3-5 business days after the hearing.

The following statements are invalid reasons for appealing a violation:

  • "I didn't see the sign."
  • “我迟到了。."
  • "I could not find another parking space."
  • "There was no sign that said I couldn't park there."
  • "I only parked there for a few minutes. I had my flashers on."
  • "I was loading or unloading my car."
  • "I've always parked there and never got a ticket before."
  • "Other cars have parked there and they didn't get a ticket."
  • "I don't agree with policy or regulation."
  • "I wasn't aware of the policy or parking regulations."
  • "My car was registered last year but I didn't register this year."
  • "I registered my car this year but didn't have time to pick up my sticker."
  • "I have my parking sticker but didn't put it on my car yet."
  • "This is my first ticket and I deserve a warning."
